CASK
Calcium/calmodulin-dependent serine protein kinase (CASK) is involved in the development of neuromuscular junctions, which are involved in the communication between the nervous system and muscles. A mutation in the CASK gene (g.8893G > A) was found to be under a high level of selection in racing pigeons compared to other breeds. This suggests that it may play a role in race performance.
We report genotypes as AA, AG or GG. AA is thought to be better for race performance than GG.
Sample requirements: please provide one feather approximately 2 inches long (the same feather can be used for multiple tests).
Results are typically available within 3 weeks.
