GSR

$10.00

The GSR mutation was identified because it was found to be under a high level of selection in racing pigeons compared to other breeds. This suggests that it plays a large role in race performance.

GSR is potentially connected to magnetoreception and serves as a candidate gene in the biocompass pathway in the homing pigeon. The specific GSR mutation that we are testing for does not result in an amino acid change, but is thought to cause increased expression of GSR in the wattle. We report genotypes as CC, CT or TT. TT is thought to be better for race performance than CC.

Sample requirements: please provide one feather approximately 2 inches long (the same feather can be used for multiple tests).

Results are typically available within 3 weeks.
